How to find us

BY CAR
You can find us at Zalog 2, 6230 Postojna. If you're arriving from the highway, we're the first building on the left before entering Postojna. Simply follow the main road – you can't miss us. Parking is available at the Hop House building, where Neotropica is located.

BY TRAIN
Trains stop at Postojna railway station, about a 40-minute walk from our location. To shorten the journey, you can take advantage of the free local Furman shuttle, which runs through Postojna according to its timetable. The Furman stops close to us on the following routes: Line 1, Workers' Line, and School Line. You can check the timetable here.

BY BUS
Postojna has several intercity bus connections that arrive at the Postojna bus station. From there, you can either transfer to the local Furman shuttle or walk to Neotropica (approximately 25 minutes on foot).

Parking

Free parking for cars and buses is available right next to the Hop House building, where Neotropica is located.

Accessibility

Neotropica is accessible for visitors in wheelchairs. Unfortunately, the leaf-cutter ant exhibit and our VR corner are not yet wheelchair accessible.

Before your visit

What You Should Know

For larger organized groups, we offer the option of booking a guided tour.
Contact us at: info@neotropica.si.

Free parking is available in front of our building for visitors.
We recommend dressing in layers, as the exhibition spaces are maintained at a constant temperature of around 24°C.

Food and drinks are not allowed inside the exhibition areas. You can read our visitor guidelines and notes for guests with phobias here. At the reception desk, you'll find brochures and leaflets about our exhibition. Informational panels placed throughout the exhibition will guide you during your visit.

After your tour, don't miss our souvenir shop and take a break at Hop Caffe, where a tasty selection awaits you.

If you need accommodation, we invite you to stay at our HOP HOUSE Garni Hotel, located in the same complex. You can check room availability and prices here.

Visitor Etiquette

To ensure a pleasant, safe, and stress-free experience for both visitors and animals, please respect the following rules:

Respect for Animals

Do not tap on or touch the glass of aquariums and terrariums. Do not feed the animals unless explicitly allowed by our staff. Do not touch live animals unless specifically permitted.

Proper Behavior

Speak quietly and avoid loud noises that could disturb animals or other visitors. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.

Use of Flash Photography

Photography is allowed, but without flash, as it can disturb the animals. Please also avoid using flashlights or other strong light sources.

Consideration for Other Visitors

Respect personal space and avoid blocking paths and walkways.

Keeping the Space Clean

Dispose of waste in the designated bins. Do not bring food or drinks into the exhibition areas.

Following Staff Instructions

Always follow the guidance of our staff. We are here to ensure your visit is safe, enjoyable, and educational.

By respecting these simple rules, you help create a pleasant environment for all visitors and ensure the wellbeing of our animals. Thank you for following our visitor etiquette!

Sensory Sensitivities & Phobias

Public aquariums offer a wonderful opportunity to explore the underwater world and discover new animal species. At Neotropica, however, we are also aware that certain elements may trigger sensory overload or phobias related to animals, sounds, or specific spaces.

For visitors with these sensitivities, we are always happy to provide advice on how to plan your visit so it is as enjoyable and comfortable as possible. We are also available for any additional information or support – even within our team, some of us share these concerns, which is completely natural.

Our aquarium may potentially trigger:
Ichthyophobia – fear of fish, Herpetophobia – fear of snakes, Herpetophobia / Scincidophobia – fear of lizards, Brontophobia – fear of thunder or storm sounds, Photophobia – sensitivity to light effects, Myrmecophobia – fear of ants, Entomophobia – fear of insects, Nyctophobia – fear of dark spaces, Claustrophobia – fear of confined spaces
